Emily joined our team in June 2022 as a Trainee Advocate and was called to the Manx Bar in July 2023.
Emily assists the senior Advocates with dispute resolution and private client matters. She has recently assisted Director Andrew Bridson with trial preparations for a complex estate dispute and a dispute regarding ownership of company shares. She works alongside senior Advocate Peter Russell dealing with employment, criminal proceedings and personal injury/clinical negligence litigation matters.
Emily has assisted with disputes in relation to unfair dismissal in the Employment Tribunal and has been involved with inquest matters alongside Director Richard Halsall. Emily has appeared before the Family Courts in relation to matters of child contact and maintenance. She is also is on the court duty advocate rota and police station duty advocate rota and will be taking on further criminal litigation matters.
Emily graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2018 with a 2:1 in her Law with Criminology Degree. She then went on to obtain a commendation in her Legal Practice Course and Masters in Legal Practice at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 2020. Emily worked in a busy Manchester law firm before moving back to the Island to qualify as a Manx Advocate. Emily sat the Manx Bar Exams in May 2022 and passed all four exams on her first attempt.
